The Leadership Council of Aging Organizations has published an issue brief describing the importance of the Social Security Disability Insurance (DI) Trust Fund. The issue brief is primarily based on the testimony provided by Kate Lang, Income Security committee co-chair and Justice in Aging representative, before the Senate Budget committee on February 11th, 2015.

LCAO White House Conference on Aging (WHCoA) Documents
The Leadership Council of Aging Organizations (LCAO) formed a White House Conference on Aging (WHCoA) work group to formulate policy priorities and suggestions for the Conference and Regional Forums. The co-chairs, Sarah Lock from AARP and Diane Lifsey from the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare (NCPSSM), sent a cover letter with LCAO policy documents to Nora Super and the White House Conference on Aging (WHCoA) staff. Letter on Disability Insurance (DI) Fund Reallocation
The LCAO letter urged the President to include a non-controversial, commonsense legislative adjustment in the 2016 budget for Congress to temporarily reallocate the Social Security payroll contributions to address the anticipated shortfall in the Social Security Disability Insurance (DI) program. LCAO also strongly urged the President to reject proposals to cut Social Security benefits, coverage, or eligibility.

Altering Extra Help Co-payments Issue Brief
The Leadership Council of Aging Organizations (LCAO) does not support increasing the Extra Help co-payment for brand name medications. Depending on the proposed increase in co-payments, the cost of medications could more than triple for some Extra Help beneficiaries, making needed prescriptions unaffordable.
